- We reserve the right to refuse service to customers who have a history of chargebacks or payment disputes.
13. Cancellation and Non-Refundable Fees
- If a customer cancels an order for any reason not attributable to an error on our part, a 3.8% non-refundable processing fee will be deducted from the refund.
- This fee is charged to cover payment processing costs incurred by us, as these charges are non-refundable by Stripe or other payment processors.
- Customers acknowledge and agree to this policy at the time of purchase.
14. Shipping Quote Disclaimer
- Shipping charges are calculated based on the delivery details provided by the customer at the time of purchase. Any additional delivery requirements — including but not limited to liftgate service, forklift assistance, residential delivery, limited-access locations, appointment scheduling, or re-delivery attempts — must be disclosed prior to shipment.
- If any undisclosed delivery accommodations are required at the time of delivery, or if delivery is delayed or refused due to incorrect or incomplete address information, the customer will be responsible for all resulting surcharges, reconsignment fees, or return freight charges.
Storage and Delivery Delays
- If delivery or pickup is delayed due to customer unresponsiveness, failure to schedule delivery, or incorrect / incomplete delivery details, the shipment may be held by the carrier.
- Any storage fees, re-delivery charges, or rerouting costs billed to us by the carrier will be directly billed to the customer and must be paid in full before release of the item.
- If the item remains unclaimed or undeliverable for 30 days, it will be considered abandoned, and no refund will be issued, regardless of payment status.
15. Local Pickup Policy
- Same Day Pickup is available
- Orders marked for Local Pickup must be collected within 30 days of purchase or notification that the item is ready.
- If the item is not picked up within 30 days, it will be considered abandoned and no refund or credit will be issued. The item may be restocked or resold without further notice.
Return Policy for Used Automobile Parts
Thank you for choosing us for your automotive needs. We strive to provide high-quality used automobile parts, and we want to ensure your satisfaction with your purchase. Please review our return policy below:
Warranty:
All transmissions and engines come with a 90-day warranty from the date of purchase. This warranty covers any defects in the part; it does not cover any damage during shipping. If you encounter any issues, please contact us within 30 days of receiving the part to request a return.
All mechanical and electrical parts must be installed by a licensed professional repair facility. Proof of installation (invoice with business name, date, and vehicle details) may be required to validate warranty claims.
Warranty is void if the part is installed by an unqualified individual, self-installed, or installed in an incompatible application. Exchange.
Excluded Components:
Engines, transmissions, and major assemblies may come with accessory items such as sensors, belts, hoses, gaskets, seals, or wiring as a convenience only. These components are not covered under warranty, and should be replaced by the installer.
Only the long block/primary assembly is covered. Seals, gaskets, fluids, and external accessories are the responsibility of the installer.
No Labor or Incidental Coverage:
Warranty covers replacement of the defective part only. It does not cover labor costs, towing, diagnostic time, rental vehicles, lost wages, or any other incidental or consequential expenses.
Return Authorization:
All returns must be authorized by our customer service team before they are shipped back to us. To initiate a return or exchange, please contact our customer service within 30 days of receiving the part. Please do not return any item without prior authorization.
Return Shipping:
- Return shipping charges are the responsibility of the purchaser, except in extraordinary and uncommon situations of undisclosed damage or misrepresentation.
- We will provide you with a return shipping label for eligible returns.
- The cost of the return shipping will be deducted from your refund, unless the return is due to our error.
- Shipping charges are not refundable under any circumstances, barring gross negligence on the part of the freight carrier resulting in damage to the item.
- Simple failure of a used part to function properly does not constitute an extraordinary circumstance. While we put each part through a rigorous, multiple-step process to ensure quality, the very nature of used parts contains an inherent risk. Return Condition:
All parts must be returned in the same condition as they were received, and in their original packaging. Please ensure that the part has not been altered, modified, disassembled, overheated, or damaged. Parts that have been installed or removed from tamper-proof inspection bags are not eligible for return.
Refunds:
Refunds will be processed within 5 business days of receiving the returned item. The refund will be issued in the original form of payment. Please note that all expedited and air shipping charges are non-refundable. If the original payment is made in cash, a refund check will be issued.
Refund Processing Fee
All customer-initiated refunds are subject to a 4% non-refundable processing fee. This fee is charged by the payment processor (e.g., credit card company, PayPal, etc.) at the time of the original transaction and is not retained by City Motors Chicago.
Replacement:
If you received a defective part or an incorrect item, we will provide a replacement free of charge. Please contact us within 30 days of receiving the item to request a replacement.
If the replacement item is of equal or lesser value, a partial refund or store credit will be issued for the difference.
If the replacement item is of greater value, a new charge will be issued for the remaining balance. In most cases, it is more efficient to process a full refund for the original order and create a new invoice for the replacement item.
Delivery/Damage:
Please inspect all shipments upon receipt. All truckload deliveries will require a signature at the time of delivery. Customers must open the item and ensure shipment is not damaged before signing the delivery receipt. If there is visible damage, the customer must notify the carrier and collect evidence. If you notice any damage after accepting a shipment, please contact us immediately. Failure to report shipping damage promptly may void the warranty. We are not liable for any damage after the carrier delivers the item and the customer fails to inspect the purchase promptly on delivery. If the item is damaged, this information must be noted on the Carrier’s documentation prior to the documentation being signed. This signature effectively transfers liability for the item. If signed as received in good condition, a claim cannot be brought against City Motors.
Please contact us immediately by phone or by email once damage is noticed. Please include evidence. Failure to provide immediate notice voids all remedies available.
Limitation of Liability
City Motors Chicago is not responsible for labor costs, installation fees, loss of use, downtime, or incidental/consequential damages related to defective or incorrect parts.
Our maximum liability is limited to the original purchase price of the product.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Illinois. Disputes shall be resolved in Illinois state courts.
Terms of Sale & Details:
- We reserve the right to require any documentation pursuant to verification or authentication of payment information.
- We do not accept returns for parts that have been modified or altered in any way.
- We are not responsible for any installation costs or labor expenses associated with the replacement of any part.
- We reserve the right to deny any return or exchange.
- All expedited, air shipping charges, shipping charges, including return shipping, are non-refundable.
- Customers must open the item and ensure the shipment is not damaged before signing the delivery receipt. If any damage is present, customers must refuse delivery so a claim can be filed with the carrier.
- The warranty will be voided if damage is present upon delivery, but the carrier is not notified.
- The refund method will only be in the original form of payment. The only exception may be for in-store cash purchases. If an in-store cash purchase is returned and there is an insufficient amount of cash on hand, a company check will be issued.
- Warranty covers the original cost of the item. Labor and Associated Charges are not covered under Warranty. Warranty is specifically limited as provided herein. Warranty applies only to the item purchased and is limited to the purchase price of the item. Seller only warrants that the item purchased is in the condition stated. Improper installation or handling may damage or break the item; any such improper installation/handling voids any warranty. Buyer understands and assumes such risk.
- Special Order Items (including, but not limited to, Structural Cuts and Automotive Glass Removed to Order, etc.) are not returnable, barring gross negligence on the part of the freight carrier resulting in damage to the item. Any consumable or maintenance item(s) such as fluids, filters, spark plugs, gaskets, seals, timing chains, belts, etc. It should be replaced before installing any engine. Engines are guaranteed not to have a cracked block, cracked head, or bad crankshaft, unless specifically noted. Parts internal to the Engine are warranted. Parts external to the cylinder block and the cylinder head(s) are not warranted. If present, these items are left on the engine for the installer’s convenience only. Overheating of the engine voids all warranties. For Transmissions, low fluid level, failure to install a new filter, broken front pump, or improper installation voids all warranties. Failure to have work performed by a Licensed Dealership or ASE-certified mechanic voids all warranties. Documentation or written Diagnostic Reports may be required prior to issuance of an RMA for any item.
- Tires are a consumable item. There is no warranty or guarantee for tires included with wheel rims. The customer should install matching, roadworthy tires on all wheels. No refunds will be offered, and no returns will be accepted based on the condition of the tires.
- Purchaser is solely responsible for determining the suitability of an item or items purchased for any and all purposes intended. The Seller assumes no responsibility that the goods will be fit for any particular purpose for which you may be buying these goods, except as otherwise provided in the contract. Written or verbal representation, made by any person at any time, contrary to the provisions of this warranty and/or contract, shall not be binding. Buyer further agrees that there have been no verbal representations that are not contained in this agreement.
- City Motors photographs each item immediately prior to the item leaving our premises or being packaged for shipping; all photographs are time-and-date-stamped, filed, and stored for reference. If the returned item is physically damaged, missing components, tampered with, or has been taken apart, the warranty is void. If an item has been opened, altered, remanufactured, or in any way modified, the warranty is voided. If an item is returned missing original components or with modified components, the warranty is voided. City Motors reserves the right to be the determiner of the condition of the item when sold and when returned. While it puts each part through a rigorous, multiple-step process to ensure quality, the very nature of used parts contains an inherent risk; the buyer understands that s/he assumes this risk. Seller undertakes no responsibility for the quality of goods except as otherwise provided in this contract. Buyer understands that there are no warranties, express or implied, except as otherwise expressly stated in this contract. What Is Not Covered Warranty does not cover damage or failure resulting from: Failure due to accident or collision, Improper installation of the part, Misuse, abuse, modification, vehicles used off-road or for racing purposes, Chemical fallout, tree sap, salt, hail, or other environmental conditions. Disassembling voids the warranty.
We will issue a refund on a part only if the following conditions are met:
- The part has not been altered, modified, disassembled, overheated, or damaged.
- The part has not been installed.
- The customer has their original invoice.
- The part is not a special order.
- The part is not a custom body cut.
- The part is returned within 30 days of the original purchase date.
- The Part is not removed from the tamper-proof inspection bag.
